One person was rescued from the second floor of a High Street residence in Barton yesterday morning. Five people lived in the home at 18913 High Street; only three were home at the time of the 7:53 a.m. fire, which originated in the basement of the home. Neither person received medical treatment and there were no transports from the scene. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, with the preliminary cause being improper use of a space heater. The Red Cross was also notified.
