The COVID-19 death toll has risen to eight. A woman, who was a former resident of Allegany County, and was living in a health care facility in another county has passed away. Of the county’s 8 COVID-19 fatalities, four were residents of the Cumberland Healthcare Center, two were Allegany County community members, and two were former Allegany County residents, residing in health care facilities outside of the county. The Allegany County Health Department reports a total of 122 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Allegany County. Of that number, 74 are residents and 18 are staff at the Cumberland Healthcare Center. The remaining 30 are county residents who did not live or work at CHC.
