SCHOOLS TO REMAIN CLOSED FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR

Maryland State School Superintendent, Dr. Karen Salmon announced that schools will remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. During a press conference in Annapolis, Dr. Salmon noted that plans are being made to bring students back into the buildings, and possibly having students attend on alternating days in the fall. As for graduation ceremonies, that decision will be made by local school superintendents and boards, in collaboration with the local community. Some restrictions are being lifted by the state, including some elective surgeries. Beginning tomorrow morning, the state is lifting restrictions on golf, tennis, fishing, camping, and the opening of state parks. Governor Larry Hogan stressed that social distancing and other safety measures should be followed. The state, he noted, is not quite ready to launch “Phase One” of the “Roadmap to Recovery.”
