GRADUATION TO INCLUDE DRIVE-THROUGH TYPE CEREMONY

Local high school seniors will receive their diplomas next week, but that’s where the similarity to past graduations ends. Interim Superintendent Jeff Blank, in letter his week, says students should bring their diplomas to a partly drive-through ceremony. Each student will then get out of their cars, walk to an area between Blank and each school’s principal and have their photo taken. Graduation is scheduled for the Center for Career and Technical Education on May 21st; Mountain Ridge will hold graduation on May 27th; Allegany will have ceremonies on May 27th, and Fort Hill on May 28th. Ceremonies are optional for graduates and livestreamed for those unable to attend. In other Board of Education news, the board is suspending the search for a new superintendent, due to the pandemic.
