A woman was rescued from an island on the West Virginia side of the Potomac River late last night. The incident took place in the Mexico Farms area around 10:30, when the Maryland State Police aviation unit was requested to assist with a search of the area. The woman was located and the incident last about an hour. Several units responded to the incident. There were no reported injuries.
