FRANCHOT CHIEF OF STAFF LEAVING

Maryland State Comptroller Peter Franchot has announced that Len Foxwell will no longer serve as chief of staff as of today and will leave the agency at the end of the month. Last spring, Foxwell had made some controversial comments about right-wing groups, criticizing those who defied coronavirus-related orders on social media. He has served in the Comptroller’s Office and the state for 12 years. Emmanuel Welsh will assume the role of acting chief of staff; he has served as deputy chief of staff since 2016.
