PRINCIPAL CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH SEX CASE

Petersburg High School principal Paula Jo Weese has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of failing to report, after she allegedly did not notify law enforcement of a female student’s allegation of sexual assault by a social studies teacher there. Jonathan McNemar was arrested and charged in early August, following an investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with felony offenses of sexual abuse and sexual abuse by a guardian. As for the charges against Ms. Wease, they carry a maximum jail sentence of 90 days and a fine of up to $5,000 or both. The investigation of both McNemar and Ms. Weese is continuing. McNemar remains jailed at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail on $115,000 bond.
