OFFICIALS CONFIRM FRAUDULENT EMPLOYMENT CLAIMS

More than 87 per cent of unemployment insurance claims flagged as part of an investigation into $500 million in suspected fraud have been confirmed as fraudulent, according to state labor officials. Of the over 102,000 out-of state claims identified as potentially fraudulent, over 93,000 have either not uploaded verification documentation or their documentation has been reviewed and denied. As of earlier this month, Maryland has paid out more than $7.3 billion in benefits from regular unemployment insurance programs and supplemental federal relief.
