FSU TO FURLOUGH 15 EMPLOYEES

Decreased funding within the University System of Maryland, and a breakdown of talks between University officials and union representatives have led to the announcement that at least 15 employees of the institution will be laid off within 90 days. A notice has been sent to the affect employees in the bargaining unit. FSU began its budget process with over a $10 million deficit and still faces a shortfall of $1.43 million due to a reduction in state funding, lowered enrollment, COVI-19 expenses, and a loss of auxiliary revenue.
