COVID CASES RISE TO 1,153

There have been 77 new cases of COVID-19 in Allegany County since Friday, bringing the county’s total case counts to 1,153. Among the latest cases are five children, 12 or under. Allegany County’s case rate is 55.99 per 100,000, the highest rate in the state. By comparison, the statewide average case rate is 18.55 per 100,000. Health officials are urging the public to avoid gatherings, big or small, given the spike in cases. In Garrett County, there are 24 additional positive cases since Friday.
