FUNDING ANNOUNCED FOR ROUTE 219 PROJECT

The last remaining two-lane section of Route 219 in Southern Somerset County received a boost yesterday, as the Wolf Administration announced $6 million in federal Appalachian Program Development funding has been secured to resume environmental studies to upgrade the final section into a four-lane limited access highway. The move advances the portion of Route 219 that from the southern end of Meyersdale to the northern end of the soon-to-be-completed U.S. 219/Interstate 68 interchange in Maryland.
