AGREEMENT REACHED TO RETAIN FSU EMPLOYEES

Union representatives and Frostburg State University officials have reached an agreement to retain at least 15 employees. In mid-October, negotiations with AFSCME Local 239 had broken down, with the university seeking payroll deductions in light of a $10 million budget deficit. The university issued an email last month that stated its budget would continue to face a shortfall of $1.43 million due to a reduction in state funding, lowered enrollment, COVID-19 expenses, and loss of auxiliary revenue.
