FORMER SENATOR PAUL SARBANES DIES AT 87

Former Maryland U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes has died at the age of 87; his son, Maryland Third District Congressman John Sarbanes says he passed away in Baltimore last night. Paul Sarbanes, in 2000, became the state’s first U.S. Senator to win a fifth term. Democrat Millard Tydings had served four terms, ending in 1951. There was no immediate reply to questions about details of the death, such as the cause or where he was when he died.
