Former Washington County attorney, John Martirano, has been named County Administrator there. The Washington County Commissioners voted unanimously, 5-0, to hire Martirano of Smithsburg. He has served as county attorney and also as chief legal counsel for the Washington County School System. His first day will be December 28th; Martirano says some of his priorities are economic development, education, and fire and emergency services.
