INMATE TREATED FOR SELF-INFLICTED INJURY

A North Branch Correctional Institution inmate was treated at UPMC-Western Maryland on Monday, for an apparent self-inflicted injury. The inmate was found by a correctional officer who provided aid, prior to the arrival of medical staff. The inmate was then returned to the prison and will continue to receive treatment; he had been serving a 75-year sentence for multiple armed robbery, assault and weapons charges. The incident remains under investigation.
