The federal government has released a set of detailed hospital-level data, showing the toll COVID-19 is taking on health care facilities. The study shows that 32 per cent of hospital beds in Allegany County are currently occupied by COVID-19 patients. Additionally, Garrett County reports 37 per cent, with Mineral at 26 per cent. In Bedford County 28 per cent of beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients. The study notes that anything above 20 per cent represents “extreme stress” for the hospital; above 50 per cent, the stress on staff is immense.
