MAN INJURED BY EXPLODING FIREWORK

Nineteen-year-old Philip Herrick II was injured early New Year’s morning when an illegal firework he was handling exploded. He suffered second-degree burns to his left hand and lower extremities. He was discharging the fireworks at his girlfriend’s house at 107 Pennsylvania Avenue when he was injured. He was initially taken to UPMC-Western Maryland and later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Charges are pending against Herrick.
