HOGAN ANNOUNCES RELIEF ACT OF 2021

Governor Larry Hogan announced an economic stimulus and tax relief program that he hopes will add to the immediate economic relief to Maryland residents and small businesses. To date, more than $1.7 billion in total economic aid has been released. Governor Hogan says this is the number one priority of the Maryland General Assembly, which convenes tomorrow in Annapolis. Among the priorities will be to provide direct cash payments to Maryland families who are in need; $300 million for small business tax relief; and, a 15 per cent increase to SNAP benefits. The money will come from recent budget actions of the Board of Public Works, some from a reserve fund, and a small amount from the state’s “Rainy Day Fund.” The Governor wants the Legislature to quickly pass this Act in a bipartisanship manner, so that he can sign it, and get the money to those groups and individuals who need it most.
