CITY TO REPLACE WATER VALVE ON VIRGINIA AVENUE

The city of Cumberland Water Department will be replacing a 12-inch water valve on Virginia Avenue at Potomac Street this Thursday. Water will be shut off at 9 a.m. and restored at 4 p.m. Every resident and business on the east side of Virginia Avenue, from East Offutt Street to Candoc Lane will be affected. Low pressure will be experienced a short time after service is restored. There will be several fire hydrants open throughout the neighborhood and could be open through Friday. Virginia Avenue, from Mary Street to Roberts Street, will be closed to traffic on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local traffic will be detoured towards River Avenue to Roberts Street.
