ONE PERSON DIES IN ROMNEY FIRE

One person was killed in a Saturday house fire in Romney; the blaze remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal. The house was in the 5800-block of Grassy Lick Road; volunteers searched the burning home but were forced out by what was called a “heavy fire load.” Fighting the fire was complicated by exploding propane tanks. Units from both Hampshire and Mineral Counties were on the scene for about eight hours, following the initial call at 3:11 a.m.
