The state of Maryland is waiving its six per cent sales tax on ENERGY STAR appliances this weekend. From Saturday through Monday, a number of products-whether purchased in-store or online-will be exempt from tax. Products include air conditioners, washers and dryers, standard-sized refrigerators, furnaces, heat pumps and a number of other appliances. In addition to the tax-free savings, shoppers can find other deals from retailers, manufacturers and utility companies that promote the use of energy-efficient products.
