GENERAL ASSEMBLY PASSES PANDEMIC RELIEF MEASURE

The General Assembly has passed a pandemic relief measure that delivers more than $1 billion in tax relief and economic stimulus for low-income families and small businesses. The House withdrew provisions that would have expanded relief to families who use Individual Tax Identification Numbers, instead of Social Security numbers, with critics saying it would have steered relief to undocumented immigrants. The measure would help those who filed for the Earned Income Tax Credit, those who have unemployment claims in limbo and tax relief for small businesses.
