An unattended candle has been targeted as the cause of a fire in the 11300-block of New York Avenue in LaVale early yesterday morning. A firefighter sustained a minor injury in the fire, as well as one of the occupants of the home, who went back into the home to retrieve a set of keys and later fell on ice. Another occupant of the home was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire caused over $150,000 in damages. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
