As of Friday, there are 6,382 COVID cases in Allegany County, and no additional deaths. Allegany County’s current case rate is half that of the state, and its positivity rate is at 2.79 percent, as compared to the statewide average of 4.12 per cent. To date, 13 per cent of the population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with nearly 6 per cent receiving both doses. All county residents are encouraged to complete the online vaccine interest form at health.maryland.gov/allegany, so that the health department of UPMC-Western Maryland can contact individuals when it is their turn to receive the vaccine.
