Nottingham, Maryland resident William Edward Wright, who had been the subject of a CDS investigation, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the area of Park Street in Cumberland. Wright had been suspected of distributing and selling fentanyl and crack cocaine in the area. He was found to have a large amount of the drugs during his arrest. The Allegany County Narcotics Task Force then executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of National Highway, where investigators seized large amounts of fentanyl, crack cocaine, CDS packaging materials and a loaded handgun, belonging to Wright. He was ordered held without bond. Also assisting in the operation was the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.
