TRACTOR-TRAILER HITS TWO CARS IN FROSTBURG

A tractor trailer traveled down Main Street in Frostburg Friday afternoon, eventually ditching near the intersection of Routes 36 and 40. There were reports of two vehicles being hit; initial reports of a pedestrian being struck were unfounded. The driver of the rig wasn’t hurt. A portion of Main Street was closed until about 6 p.m. Friday. It was just over 40 years ago, a runaway tractor trailer killed three people and injured 11 others, prompting a ban on trucks of over 10,000 pounds from descending Big Savage Mountain eastbound on U.S. Route 40 in Frostburg.
