HOGAN ISSUES ORDER PROHIBITING GARNISHMENT OF STIMULUS PAYMENTS

Governor Larry Hogan issued an order that prohibits the latest round of federal stimulus payments from being garnished.  The Republican said that the money is intended for struggling Marylanders, and the state is committed to protecting the relief for those who need it most.  The order instructs all financial institutions to consider these payments as protected and cannot be subject to a court-ordered garnishment.  Hogan signed a similar order for the first round of stimulus payments last spring.
