Morgantown resident George Tanios is one of two men arrested and charged with assaulting U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick on January 6th. He, along with Pennsylvania resident Julian Khater were arrested Sunday. There is a theory that Sicknick died after being sprayed by a chemical irritant; Khater is the man in a video obtained by the FBI that showed him spraying Sicknick and others with polar bear spray. Tanios handed him the spray; the circumstances surrounding the officers’ death remain unclear, and a final cause of death has not been determined.
