A Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Initiative was held yesterday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the vicinity of the Finzel Scalehouse along Interstate 68 Eastbound, through the city of Cumberland. The operation focused on speeding in the 45 and 40-mile-per-hour speed zones, which have resulted in numerous brake fires and commercial motor vehicle collisions. The Initiative was conducted in an effort to reduce those incidents. One of the Cumberland Police Department’s goals for 2021 is to enhance commercial vehicle enforcement along Interstate 68, in the city limits of Cumberland.
