A 73-year-old New Creek man died in a house fire early yesterday morning, after initially escaping, but then reentered the burning home. A female occupant of the house was treated by medical personnel for chest pains, but declined transport to the hospital. The fire happened on Ash Spring Run Road around 12:30 a.m. In addition to fire units, the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and the Mineral County Medical Examiner responded. The fire appears to be accidental in nature. The victim was not identified.
