NEW COVID CASES REPORTED; OVER 19,000 HAVE FIRST VAX DOSE

The Allegany County Health Department is reporting 19,054 residents have received at least the first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19. Of that number, 11,117 are now fully vaccinated. The local positivity rate is 2.42 per cent, while the state rate declined slightly, at 5.71 per cent. There have been 29 new cases in the county since Tuesday, and no additional deaths. UPMC-Western Maryland is holding a vaccination clinic tomorrow, with the one-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine being administered; registrations were taken earlier in the week.
