MAN HELD WITHOUT BOND

Cumberland resident Melvin Maurice Gherel Tyson is being held without bond, following an incident last weekend at a Byrd Avenue residence. He is accused of wielding a knife and holding two residents in the home, not allowing them to leave. Tyson reportedly was uncooperative with police, resisting briefly. He was charged with two counts each of first and second-degree assault and two counts of false imprisonment. Tyson received a District Court hearing, before being remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.
