SANDWICH SHOP OWNER PLEADS NOT GUILTY

George Tanios, the Morgantown sandwich shop owner who is accused in the assault of three Capitol Police Officers, including one who later died, has entered a plea of not guilty. He asked for a jury trial, and continues to pursue bond that could allow him to stay out of jail as he awaits trial. He and childhood friend Julian Khater of Pennsylvania are accused of using extremely strong pepper spray against officers during the incident. Officer Brian Sicknick was killed in the Capitol attacks; the exact cause of his death has not been released.
