ROMNEY TEEN CRASHES PLANE IN VIRGINIA

A 17-year-old pilot, who was doing tough-and-go landings at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Weyers Cave, Virginia, crashed the plane earlier this week. He was taken to UVA Medical Center for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A passenger was also taken to the hospital for treatment. The crash occurred as the plane’s controls became unresponsive, which caused it to drift to the left. The plane clipped a tree limb, and struck several trees outside the airport property. The crash remains under investigation by both the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board.
