LEADERS CALL FOR PASSAGE OF JUSTICE IN POLICING ACT

Maryland Congressional leaders are reacting to the conviction of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd.  U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen says the jury reached a just verdict, but urgent action is needed to defeat systemic racism and the Senate must pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.  Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger says the racism that has existed in American institutions for too long must be eradicated, starting with substantive police reform. He is calling on the Senate to follow the House and pass the measure to hold rogue officers accountable.
