Ridgeley resident Brian Sgaggero died in a head-on collision yesterday morning on Route 28, near the Springfield Assembly of God Church. He was northbound, when a car, driven by Fort Ashby resident Brittany Sears crossed the center line and collided with his truck. The vehicle then went over an embankment, trapping him, as it caught fire. A passerby tried to free Sgaggero, who was entrapped in his truck. Ms. Sears was taken to UPMC-Western Maryland for treatment. No charges have been filed, and the case remains under investigation by the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Department. Route 28 was closed for nearly three hours.
