A 25-year-old man lost his life in a fire, just before 7 a.m. yesterday. Units responded to the 1100-block of Simpson Avenue, behind D’Atrti’s Restaurant in LaVale. Firefighters were told that an occupant could still be inside, and the man was located as they entered the home. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire originated on the home’s front balcony, and the cause remains under investigation. The victim will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the exact cause of death, and for positive identification.
