ROUTE 219 ALIGNMENT AT GRANTSVILLE COMPLETE

The realignment project of Route 219 and a new four-lane section of road near Grantsville is finished and opened yesterday. The project, which carried a $63 million price tag, began nearly three years ago, and had been a top Garrett County transportation priority for decades. The ultimate goal is to create a modern north-south route in Western Maryland and southwestern Pennsylvania for freight haulers and drivers alike. Approximately 1-1/2 miles of road remains unfinished from Old Salisbury Road to the Pennsylvania line.
