EXTRA SECURITY PLANNED FOR BEDFORD COUNTY HEARING

There will be extra security in place later this week, when a hearing will be held for a Schellsburg man, accused of shooting a civil rights activist last summer along Route 30. Terry Myers will have a preliminary hearing in Central Court Wednesday in Bedford. Myers is accused of shooting Milwaukee, Wisconsin resident Orsin Thurman as a group passed through Bedford on their way to a gathering in Washington, D.C. last August, to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Thurman was struck in the face, and returned fire, but did not hit Myers. Thurman has yet to be arraigned for his part in the confrontation.
