LIFTING OF COVID EMERGENCY MEANS END TO EVICTION FREEZE

The lifting of Maryland’s coronavirus state of emergency means the moratorium on evictions will also expire.  Governor Larry Hogan signed an executive order rescinding most COVID-19 mandates on July 1st.  Masks will no longer be required in all settings, including schools, camps and child care facilities.  Other state rules and orders will remain in place during a 45-day grace period ending on August 15th.  The transition will allow residents to renew their driver’s licenses.  The freeze on evictions will also run through the middle of August.
