DOG PERISHES, $150,000 DAMAGE DONE IN OAKLAND FIRE

A family dog perished and a home, at 513 N Street in Oakland sustained $150,000 damage in a fire Monday afternoon. The fire began in the basement of the home, owned by Scott Bittinger and occupied by Daniel Hartman. It was equipped with smoke alarms, but they were not working. Hartman is being assisted by the American Red Cross and a non-profit organization in the Oakland area.
