FAITH, EDUCATION LEADERS DEMAND FAIR SCHOOL FUNDING IN PA.

Faith and education leaders are calling on Pennsylvania lawmakers to fairly fund public schools when they vote on the 2021 through 2022 budget. The groups gathered outside of state senator Scott Martin’s office in Strasburg yesterday, saying the governor’s fair funding formula plan ensures that all school funding passes through a formula to close funding gaps. They added that this can be achieved without raising a single tax dollar by using the state’s three-billion-dollar surplus and the seven-billion-dollars the state received through federal COVID relief. Martin says he supports the plan, but not the governor’s proposal to increase basic education funding by more than one-billion-dollars.
