A Cumberland man got an early start on his Fourth of July celebration, but that led to police issuing a criminal citation on Friday evening. James Wendell Bristol was arrested in the 600-block of East First Street, as Cumberland City Police officers saw him actively lighting an illegal mortar. He was issued a criminal citation for discharging fireworks without a permit. He was later released, pending trial in Allegany County District Court.
