HOUSE DEMS WANT GOVERNOR TO END UNEMPLOYMENT CHALLENGE

Democrats in the Maryland House want Governor Hogan to end his defense against lawsuits that seek to continue enhanced federal unemployment benefits. In a letter they also call for the removal of Maryland Labor Secretary Tiffany Robinson.  The lawmakers say withdrawing unemployment too soon will have devastating consequences for many Marylanders and the state’s economy.  In response, the governor’s communications director says the letter smacks of total desperation. A hearing on unemployment was supposed to be held on Friday afternoon, but it was postponed until today.
