CLOSING ARGUMENTS TO BEGIN IN CAPITAL GAZETTE SHOOTING TRIAL

Closing arguments are set to begin today in the Capital Gazette mass shooting trial in Maryland.  Jarrod Ramos has already pleaded guilty to the murders of five employees in the offices of the Annapolis newspaper, but he claims he is not criminally responsible for the attack.  The outcome of the trial will determine if the 41-year-old Ramos will spend the rest of his life in prison or a maximum-security state psychiatric hospital.  Prosecutors rested their case on Wednesday after the defense questioned a state forensic psychiatrist who testified that Ramos knew his actions were criminal when he carried out the 2018 killings.
