SHADE TO RUN FOR EDWARDS’ SENATE SEAT

Allegany County Commission President Jake Shade is the first candidate to announce his intention to run for the State Senate seat, now held by Senator George Edwards. Earlier this week, Senator Edwards announced he will not seek re-election. Shade was first elected to the county commission in 2014, and is now in his second term. Shade, who graduated from Allegany High School in 2011, was-at 21 years old-the youngest person ever to be elected as a county commissioner in Maryland. Shade is the only candidate for the seat on the state Board of Elections website, as of yesterday.
