Democratic Senator Joe Manchin and his counterpart on the Senate Energy Committee have differing views on the usefulness of hyperloop funding. Wyoming Republican Joe Barrasso compared the hyperloop to high-speed rail and called it a boondoggle. Manchin on the other side, sees projects like the Virgin hyperloop project in Tucker and Grant counties as the future for high speed travel and shipping.
