SIX NEW COVID CASES; DELTA VARIANT ON THE RISE IN THE U.S.

There were 6 new COVID-19 cases in Allegany County, as of Sunday, with zero additional deaths. The local positivity rate is below that of the state, with Allegany County reporting a 1.1 per cent rate; Maryland is at 1.48 per cent. According to the CDC, the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading with hospitalizations and deaths back on the rise. The Health Department is offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations tomorrow, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. In the early session, both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be offered. In the afternoon, the Pfizer vaccine will be available. As of yesterday, 40.3 per cent of Allegany County residents are fully vaccinated; across the state, 57.9 per cent of all Marylanders are fully vaccinated.
