The Garrett County Health Department has been notified that the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant has been confirmed there; it was found in a Garrett County specimen. Another variant was found in Allegany County last week. The three available vaccines do provide protection against the Delta variant, and help to prevent hospitalizations and deaths. Vaccination clinics are held in Oakland on Tuesdays from 8:30 to 4 p.m. at the Health Department there. Grantsville has its clinics on Fridays at 28 Hershberger Lane from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Scheduling links through July are available at garretthealth.org.
