MARYLAND STILL WAITING TO BE REIMBURSED FOR SENDING TROOPS TO D.C.

Governor Larry Hogan says Maryland is still waiting to be reimbursed for deploying National Guard troops to Washington, DC following the U.S. Capitol riot in January.  Hogan is calling on the state’s congressional delegation to take urgent action to prevent major disruptions of ongoing Guard operations.  In a letter to U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, the head of the Maryland Guard says neither the Guard nor the Defense Department has received funding for sending over 25-thousand troops to the District for over four months.  Major General Timothy Gowen says if funding is not received by August 1st, they may have to make severe budget cuts affecting training, maintenance and pay for full-time soldiers and airmen.
